Skywatch 2005-09-20 to 10-13
Southern Sky at Watamu in Kenya
Report about combining the watching of the Southern Sky,
watching a Solar Eclipse, imaging Mars which is near and at Zenith those
days and an extension of the Summer in Kenya.
On September 12th we flew from Vienna/Austria to Kenya to enjoy the above
mentioned activities in Watamu-Beach south of Malindi in Kenya.

The Solar Eclipse on October 3rd 2005.
The plan was to go near the Somali boarder on Eclipse day, but all
travel agencies denied to go there as this area is not safe. Somali gangs
are coming over the border and rob what they can get. So the eclipse could
not be watched as annullar eclipse it was a nearly annullar partial solar
eclipse.

A visit in the Bush near Kilifi in
Kenya September 2005
|
One impressive experience was to see how the Africans live
in the bush in the old fashioned way. Already the transportation with the Matatu
busses was colorful.
The rest of the way in the bush was done with bicycle "bush-taxis". |
